Today Is Going to Be a Good Day

DAY 3 OF 7

Today is going to be a good day because God doesn’t tell us to forget those things that concern us—he just asks that we tell him about them.

God cares about what we care about, and he knows that when we choose to pray instead of worry and share our concerns with him, then the peace of God will consume our hearts and will be ours.

Peace follows gratitude because gratitude focuses on our blessings rather than worrying about what we lack. His peace is like a fortress around our hearts, protecting us from those things that are not from our Heavenly Father.

It was an exciting albeit stressful time for our family as we juggled driving 22 hours to take my college freshman son to orientation and dorm move-in, then immediately turning around and driving another 22 hours to get back in time for my younger son to start his freshman year of high school.

We no sooner arrived home than my husband’s and my phone began lighting up with one missed call, text, or private message after another warning us of the impending hurricane preparing to strike Florida, where we had just left my oldest son, without a vehicle or any way for him to evacuate to safety.

Our family began to pray. We prayed for his safety. We prayed for an evacuation plan. We prayed against the weather. And we committed him into his Heavenly Father’s hand, knowing that as much as we loved and cared for our son, God loved him infinitely more. When we’d done all we could practically do, we left him in God’s protective care and trusted him.

Worry accomplishes little, but prayer opens up the doorway to God’s miraculous hand at work and leaves our hearts in peace.

What worries do you need to give to Him today?

Father, you are holy and perfect, loving and kind. You command us not to worry, but to pray instead. You offer us a safe place to share what we need and thank you for all you have done because you know our understanding is limited while your provision is limitless. Help us to exchange our worries, fears, and anxieties for your peace which will guard our hearts. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
