Coping With Pain And AdversityChikamu
My Response to Adversity - Sulk and Stagnate or Trust and Move On
Attitude is everything! When you hit rock bottom, don't dig deeper, look higher. It's easy to sin when we are at our worst, lowest and most broken. Satan is almost hyperactive then.
Don't give in to discouragement, and be careful with your attitude during the down times. Life is unfair, I agree, but we can either sulk and stagnate or trust and move forward. Sulking and self-pity are the wrong responses to adversity as they make you look inward instead of upward.
Can you say “God is good” in the midst of sorrow? Well, I have to because He really IS good. Just because I don't know or understand what is happening doesn't mean God's goodness comes under doubt.
God was good when Joseph was put in prison unjustly and he was good when he became prime minister. God was good when Daniel was thrown in a den of ravenous lions and he continued to be good when he shut the mouths of those lions and rescued Daniel. God was good before and after Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego encountered the fiery furnace. God was good during Job's greatest losses and He was good when everything was restored twice over to him.
We can't see the whole picture, so let's not write off God. When life falls into pieces, remember that God is more than capable of picking up the pieces and creating something beautiful out of the mess.
