DAY 2 OF 7

DAY 2: VISION - PART 2

Now that you understand the value and the need for establishing a vision for your life and purpose, we can begin the process of tangible, practical formulation of that vision. Seeing it in your mind's eye is just the beginning. Devising a plan and a course of action must follow for the vision to take shape and grow legs. A vision without a plan is just a dream that never comes to fruition. When Jesus spoke the prophetic word over Peter that he would be the rock upon which the church was built (Matthew 16:18), Peter needed to receive that vision and calling so that he could begin the process of execution. Believing in our hearts that God created us all for a unique purpose is the fuel we need to begin the journey.

That said, there is certainly value in writing our vision on paper. When we see it and start verbalizing it, we begin to conceptualize the validity of its true impact on the world or, at the very least, our circle of influence. Most successful people write down their goals each month. Successful corporations create business plans on paper so the team can visualize direction and quantify a plan for achievement. I would argue it's no different in our personal lives. Planning for the upcoming year is most effective when done in digestible increments, such as monthly or weekly desired accomplishments or goals.

Many people shy away from the term "goal setting" because it seems overwhelming or unattainable. My best success has come from creating small, bite-sized goals and building momentum so that I can start enlarging the scope of new goals. Physically writing them down and acknowledging them daily creates consistency and reinforcement of the overall vision. If you see it and believe it, you will be more inclined to strategize more efficiently on the best ways to activate the vision.

Next, we will discuss the strategy component and create tactics that keep us focused on the right roadmap and efficient navigation. Our footprint that has a lasting impact is very much reliant on, but not limited to, a clear and purposeful vision.

CHALLENGE STEP:

Write one vision statement where you can see it daily and speak it out loud.
