The True Treasure of Christmas

DAY 2 OF 6

Jesus truly is the Reason for the season, and what an honor to get to celebrate His birthday month with Him. When we delight in the true Treasure of Christmas, we’ll never experience the holidays the same.

There are many ways to enjoy and treasure Jesus. Here are today's Christmas ideas:

  • Decorate your Christmas tree and enjoy spending time with just Jesus each day. Make a warm beverage, sit by the Christmas tree, and cozy up in a blanket as you read God’s Word. I like to play soft Christmas music and turn all the lights out (except for the tree) as I enjoy my time with Jesus. Share your day with Jesus, pray for your loved ones, tell Jesus how much you cherish Him. Share with Him any heartaches or challenges you’re experiencing...He sincerely cares. Truly treasure Jesus and enjoy His presence.
  • Have a birthday party for Jesus.
  • Sing Christmas songs to Jesus. Christmas carols can become praise songs to grow closer to the Lord.
  • Read the Christmas story and reflect on the gift of Jesus.
  • Have a weekly “holiday night” with Jesus. My favorite is to go to a coffeeshop drive thru, and spend time with Jesus as I drive around looking at lights with Him (being attentive to avoid accidents). Whether you stay home or do an activity, make these times with Jesus extra special.
  • Attend Christmas services at church. Invite whoever Jesus places on your heart.
  • Create a video or written note of your testimony and put it on social media. Hashtag it with #TrueTreasureOfChristmas so your family and friends can hear how Jesus changed your life.
  • Host a praise and worship night with loved ones.
  • Give your loved ones the gifts of love, compassion, and forgiveness. One of the best ways to love Christ is to love others with the same love and forgiveness He blesses us with.
  • If you know of someone who has left the church, call and care about them. Some have left due to being wounded; others have left due to grief events, life challenges, or sin. Read and consider Jude 1:20-23. Jesus absolutely loves when we have compassion for the hurting and bring them back to His heart. If we know we have wounded someone (past or present), let's purpose to sincerely apologize, ask for forgiveness, and make it right as a way of honoring the Lord.
  • There is a special post, “43 Ways To Delight In God,” on the Grief Bites blog that shares how to extravagantly love Jesus. Jesus is SO worth all of our adoration and praise!. Let's highly treasure Jesus - especially throughout His birthday month.

Let’s shower Jesus with love each day, delight in Him, genuinely love others, and fully enjoy the true Treasure of Christmas.
