How to Live an Epic LifeChikamu
When I was younger, I enjoyed getting together with my friends and playing a good game of football. We played touch football or flag football, but we still blocked for the quarterback. After all, we were tough young men, and the defense still rushed the quarterback. Whenever we went out to play football, we would all get in a group, and then we would have two captains who would pick teams.
There was a guy who played with us, and his name was Chuck. Chuck had played public high school football. He was big, and he was the nicest guy off the field, but once he got on the football field, he went crazy. Now you do not want a big, strong, crazy person on the other team. Whichever captain picked Chuck, you knew that team was going to win.
If God is for you, if Almighty God is on your side, nothing can change that. By accepting God’s gift of salvation through Jesus, you are on God’s side, He is on your side, and nothing can change that. In Romans 8:37, it tells us in all these things we are more than conquerors. Remember, more than conquerors means “beyond victory.” Beyond victory is what we have through Him who loved us. We are on the victorious side, and nothing can break that.
I love to fish, and when I was younger, I had a fishing pole called the Ugly Stik. They had a guarantee if you broke it, they would replace it. On TV, they had a guy bending the Ugly Stik into a circle, so you know what I did. I bent my Ugly Stik in a circle and it snapped.
I took it to the store, and the sales manager asked how it happened. I so desperately wanted to talk about the big one that hit the lure and fought for an hour and then snapped my rod, but I had to be honest. When I told him I just bent it and broke it, he said, “You know, you’re the first honest person who’s ever walked in here. Everyone tells me they caught a huge fish, but we know it’s a lie.”
Are you more than a conqueror? Nothing can break the bond you have with your Savior.
