Unfair?! An Introduction to HabakkukChikamu
In this passage, God suggests that even violent Babylon will get its come-uppance. Baddies might strut across the stage of life for a season, but their end will assuredly come. The future doesn't belong to violent conquerors, but to the righteous, who live by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
A man might unjustly build his house upon sand, but unless his foundation is the rock of Christ, his house won't stand. We need to build on Jesus and His words, because all other ground is sinking sand. We only have one life which will soon be past; only what's done for Christ will last.
People strive to build good lives for themselves, often at the expense of each other. But soon life is over, and all that we have built is destined for the flames. God's already destroyed the world by water, next time will be by fire.
Once the final judgement is over, the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. If we live selfishly and unjustly, there is no place for us in the new creation.
'Glorious God, we glorify You today and always, in anticipation of a glorious future. To the praise of Your glory, amen.'
Do you seek to glorify God in your life?
About this Plan
It's not just small children that moan 'not fair'! Even as adults we struggle with injustice (or if we're honest, just not getting our own ways!). Habakkuk was no exception, and God graciously answered him. Let's dive in to his book to grasp the depths of God's reply to the question of injustice.
