What Is God's View on Marriage?Chikamu
What if your spouse does not believe in God?
Yesterday, we read that a Christian should not marry a non-Christian. But there can be situations where one spouse comes to faith (after marriage) and the other does not. This will undoubtedly lead to tensions within the relationship, but the marriage should not be annulled. The believer should remain faithful to their spouse. There is even the possibility that the non-believing partner will come to faith as well!
However, coming to faith will change a person. It’s with good reason that the Bible calls this process “being born again”. It’s a major turning point that will impact priorities, character and interests. Your partner is no longer the number one priority in your life --- Jesus is! If your spouse does not share your faith, these changes may cause them to be hardened against the LORD. In such cases, “if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so” (1 Corinthians 7:15).
You can’t deny your faith in order to save your marriage. If your relationship with God causes your marriage to break, this is very sad. But it’s not a sin to get a divorce in this particular situation.
Have you been born again? How has this changed you?
