Joy and Strength: Devotions for Grief and LossChikamu
Daybreak Is Coming
The cycles of life do not include an endless night. Even when you’ve forgotten what the light of day feels like in your soul, you can be sure that the dawn of revelation is coming. Gladness and joy, though they may feel like distant memories, will be tangible once more. The heaviness of sorrow will lift. This is not the end.
Can you entertain the possibility of palpable goodness today? Even if it’s an act of imagination, let your heart hope for more. The Redeemer will set you free to live unencumbered by despair. He will lead you out with songs of joy into a brighter day. He will not fail you. This moment in your life is not the end of his promises. There is more to come, and it will be full of his goodness.
Yahweh, you are the hope my heart clings to in the darkest night I’ve ever known. I am desperate for the relief of your tangible goodness. Come again. Let my heart stay burrowed in yours through it all. Holy Spirit, surround me with your lifegiving love again today.
