Wisdom From JamesChikamu
The Value of Endurance
Often, we want to control the circumstances of people and the outcome of things. James encourages Christ-followers to be patient, like a farmer who watches the season for seedtime and harvest.
I am the daughter of a farmer. My father is the most patient person I know. He knows when to sow the seed and when to harvest; he watches for former rain in the autumn and knows when to sow that seed, and he watches for the latter rain in the springtime before the harvest. All this watching and waiting while the grain receives its seasonal rain so that it will reproduce an abundant harvest.
Today, I encourage you to be patient, trusting in the Lord’s return while watching for the timing of God’s harvest.
I want to encourage you to be careful not to make promises or statements that hold you to ransom. Do not let your tongue get away from you and make false promises you cannot keep. Be realistic about what you say yes to and what you say no to. Maybe you need to grow your NO to bless your YES! While being patient in all seasons, letting God bring about his harvest in your lives and situations.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the truth of your word today. I ask for patience and God honouring speech that you may be glorified in my life, I put my trust in you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
