Feeling Stuck?Chikamu
One of the facts that most interests me is how the early Church grew so quickly and effectively. It all started with twelve disciples. Later, we see on the day of Pentecost, in Acts 2, 120 people waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit. On that same day 3,000 people were converted to Jesus. Then in AD 100, the Church is estimated to have 25,000 people. By 350 AD it is estimated that the Church had already reached 30 million followers. All this without Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or TikTok! How did the Church grow so fast?
In his book, Follow Me, David Platt states, "The first disciples saw it as an obligation to make other disciples, and not just as an option." Jesus left the Church to do much more than meet in a temple once a week. The Church is there to be light, to shine in the dark, to give hope and not remain silent. I believe that where we most experience God's love and faithfulness is when we are obedient to His Word and we are light to all those who need Jesus.
It is better to give than receive. There is nothing more beautiful than being an agent of light and bringing hope to a world that lives in anxiety, depression, and fear. When we read the story of Jesus in the Bible, we don’t see a single day in which He wasn’t light, or didn’t bring healing, hope, and salvation. As Christians, the world needs us now more than ever.
Be an agent of light and change today!
