The Dimensions of Your Soul
You are one whole being, an integrated being. But it is helpful to understand its parts or dimensions. Each dimension relates to each other to make you one integrated whole, that is, you as one whole person. Your soul will reflect either the integration of these various dimensions or it will reflect a disintegration. If your various parts are not integrated, the state of your soul will be affected. When you are disintegrating, your soul will become unhealthy or sick. You are unable to live your life to the fullest. You will be empty, your soul will feel like it is breaking apart at the seams, so to speak. A healthy soul knows how to love God, self, and others. It is created in and for love. When your soul lives in love in this way, your whole life will be fulfilling, full of meaning, purpose, and direction. When your soul is sick, you are not able to love at all. Your life will be self-centered and self-absorbed, resulting in so much pain and sorrow. That is what happens to a disintegrated soul.
Your whole being is meant to be rightly related to God and others so that you can thrive and flourish. Life becomes meaningless when it is only lived for the sake of self. Your soul will thrive when it has life-giving, authentic relationships both with God as well as with others. Your body, which is where your strength comes from -- like a power pack -- is a tool for expressing your love for God and others. But it can be used instead for self-gratification only. Your mind, as well as your emotions, which can be excellent tools for creativity to serve others, can be used instead for vain imaginations. Your heart or will, which must be submitted to God so that it can lead your whole being toward obedience to God, can be used instead to rebel against God. In other words, your various dimensions or parts should be directed toward love for God and others. But, sadly, in many cases, your whole being suffers because of sin. Sin disintegrates your soul or your whole being, making you unfit for love. The result is misery. The good news is that only God can heal you and make you whole again through faith in His Son, Jesus. Turn to Him and He will save you completely. He will restore your soul.

How would you describe your life right now? Awesome? Miserable? If you're like most people, you will describe your life as all the things that you do each day, including perhaps all the relationships you have. Of course, that is your life. But is that all there is to your life? Sadly, if that's all we think about life, we will miss out on what real life is all about. In this devotional we want you to learn that there is a kind of life that is so much better than the best life you can ever imagine.
