Peacemakers earn a wonderful reward
God sees all the hard work that you do to make peace with another person. He honors your work and will give a huge reward because you did not give up. He is a good Father and a good King. Of course, He gives rewards!
“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.” (Matthew 5:9) The peacemakers are known as the children of God. Our Lord is the Prince of Peace. When we make peace, we are being His royal ambassadors!
If that does not excite you enough, what about James 3:18? “Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”
I have read that verse before; to be honest, it didn’t really thrill me. Yeah, yeah, yeah, righteousness. Great, but what does that really mean, and how does it impact me eternally?.
I am starting to understand that righteousness does not mean being a goody-goody-two-shoes boring person. Righteousness is SO much better. Righteousness is the quality of being right in the eyes of God, including character (habits), conscience (attitude), conduct (behavior), and speech (words).
Would you like to feel light and joyful because your conscience is clean and you have handled yourself with righteousness?
Righteousness is about making wrong things right. Being holy does not mean that people can treat you poorly and you let them abuse you without having boundaries. On the contrary, righteousness means justice, fairness, and strength. All of the work that I am doing in peacemaking brings more justice, fairness, and strength for myself and other people. How awesome is that!
“In the way of righteousness, there is life…” (Proverbs 12:28) God’s righteousness brings LIFE!!!
What is life? Life is beauty, freedom, enjoyment, growth, and healing!!!!
So, the reward of being a peacemaker is reaping a righteous harvest.
Are you excited to be a peacemaker now????
Response:
The difficult conflicts I have experienced have led me to grow in wonderful ways. I am keeping a list of them. It fills me with gratitude for what God has done in my life. Start your own “Harvest of Righteousness” list that you are reaping. If you can’t see it yet, make a prayer list of all the ways you pray God will use this pain for righteousness's sake.
