IF THERE HADN’T BEEN A GRAVE
“If there hadn’t been a grave, if there hadn’t been a cross, my heart would still be buried, and my soul would still be lost.”
I was raised in church. I’ve heard the good news of the Gospel since I was a young kid. Now that I’m older, it’s easy for me to let the good news become “old news”. Sometimes I find myself trying to search for “deeper” truths in the Bible and I treat the Gospel like it’s something I just needed to know to be saved. I heard a pastor say recently that the Gospel is not just the basic lesson of the faith, it is the entire building in which all classes are taught. As Christians, we never move past the Gospel to something more. It is everything, and it deepens and widens the more we dive into it.
I never want to become cold to what Jesus has done for me. I want to always remember where I’d be without Him. If Jesus hadn’t paid our sin debt by being “pierced for our transgressions” and “crushed for our iniquities”. . . If he didn’t die the death that we deserved on the cross, then we would have no hope. But God so loved that world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

We all walk through dark times in our lives, but God has promised to bring us through to the light. He uses everything we go through to point us to the hope of resurrection.
