God claims the world is His in Psalm 24:1-2, “Everything and everyone belongs to Him!” He is the one who pushed back oceans to let the dry ground appear, planting a firm foundation for the earth.
Did you know that ALL creation repeatedly praises God? All creation is continually singing praises to God: the stars, the trees, the wind, the sky, and the rocks are giving glory to God. Luke 19:40 says, “'I tell you,’ Jesus replied, ‘If they (His disciples) keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’” As children of God, we should be singing louder than creation itself! The rocks and trees are giving glory to God and do not even have mouths to sing songs to the Lord. Still, so often, we find ourselves remaining silent when tough circumstances rise to the surface. Why is that? We have been given a voice for a reason: to give God all the glory that He willingly laid down to come to this earth to save us from the grip of sin and death! We have been given the opportunity to return to God the very breath that He first breathed into our lungs from the beginning of time through songs of praise and adoration. What an amazing thought!
You may be reading this and saying to yourself, "But I don't know what to say or how to praise God in my own words." Sometimes you are at a loss for words. So when you're searching for the right thing to say: start with gratitude. Tell God all the things you are grateful for: life, health, family, job, His love, His compassion, and His faithfulness. The list can go on and on. Once you start, you can't run out of all the good things God has done for you.
Next, search the word "praise" in the Bible and read those verses out loud. We serve the same God of the Bible, and the men and women in the Bible were just like you. They had their ups and downs, but they still opened their mouth and praised God. Take a moment, even now, to put this into action. Don't let creation be the only ones praising God. Psalm 7:17 declares, "But I will give all my thanks to you, Lord, for you make everything right in the end. I will sing my highest praise to the God of the Highest Place!" Psalms 30:12 says, "How could I be silent when it's time to praise you? Now my heart sings out loud, bursting with joy-- a bliss inside that keeps me singing. 'I can never thank you enough!'"
Because we are people of God, we have the opportunity to declare His goodness. Creation is singing His praise over and over again, so join in and sing over your family, your city, and your world, and watch what He does.
