The Aetherlight Episode 1 Family PlanChikamu
Guesswork?
Abraham was guessing up on the mountain. He knew of child sacrifices from other religions around the region. He knew God had promised and could be trusted. That was all the information he had. It’s remarkable how far he went on such a limited understanding. How much clarification would you have needed if God asked the same of you?
Something to think about while you are reading today’s passage:
God honours Abraham for his faith because he took God at His word and didn’t try to go it alone. Jesus reveals God as ultimately trustworthy and gives us the perfect example of this kind of obedience. How can the phrase ‘no-one comes .. but by me’ be heard in the background of this story?
Something to talk about with players of The Aetherlight:
When the first chapter of The Aetherlight comes to its conclusion, players finally meet the Scarlet Man, and see he’s been in control all along. He can be trusted. It might be worth discussing with them what they thought of him before this scene, and after meeting him.

The Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance is an exciting new steampunk game with a difference - It's an allegory of God’s amazing story in Scripture! Episode 1 follows Alexander as he is called by the Scarlet Man to establish the Resistance in Aethasia. These studies tie into the game and the biblical story of Abraham to help young people and their families see their part in the story of God.
