Why We Need to Keep Coming Back to the Word

Why we need to keep coming back to the Word

The Bible is life-changing. Not only does reading, and responding to God’s Word change our lives today, but it can continue to change our lives as we keep coming back to it over and over throughout our lives. It’s not enough just to read the Word, but we need to incorporate the habit into our lives, of coming back to the Word.

One of my favorite Scriptures is Psalm 1.

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked, or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”(Psalm 1:1-3)

There is something about planting our lives in God’s Word, and continuing to come back to it over and over throughout our lives. When we do this, it is like a tree planted by streams of water. It yields fruit in season, and it prospers in many ways.

We can do this with God’s Word, when we keep coming back to it continually, when we delight in it, and when we meditate on it day and night. Plant your life near it. From God’s Word and our connection to Jesus flows streams of living water to our souls. As we are watered by living water of the words pouring into our hearts, we will be fruitful in God’s purpose for us, and we will prosper in many ways God has intended for us.

Why We Need to Keep Coming Back to the Word

The Bible is life-changing. Not only does reading, and responding to God’s Word change our lives today, but it can continue to change our lives as we keep coming back to it over and over throughout our lives. In this 4-Day Bible Plan, Evangelist Matt Brown shares why we need to make a habit of coming back to our Bibles often.
