Growing as an Enneagram Six: The GuardianChikamu
Growing in Peace
In a season of growth, Sixes take on more of the characteristics of a healthy Nine. And this isn’t growth you have to conjure up or create on your own. It is work that the Lord is doing in you.
By partnering with the Holy Spirit, you’ll grow in your peace. This fruit of the Spirit in your life won’t be dependent on circumstances working out or things looking a certain way. You’ll be at peace because the Lord is with you, even as you encounter difficulties or hardships.
You’ll grow in your empathy. You’ll have space to understand where someone else is coming from. You’ll have eyes to see things from their point of view and care for them from that place.
You’ll also grow in your optimism, as you trust the Lord to keep you safe. This isn’t some naive outlook that has no bearing on reality, but a grounded trust in the Lord’s good intentions for your life.
You’ll grow in your ability to truly rest, accepting the gift of allowing Jesus to carry your burdens. You’ll feel free from the weight that everything rests on your shoulders. You’ll have regular renewal and refreshment of your body and heart.
Your soul often recognizes the things you need for growth. You probably already know a lot of the things that help you feel calm—things like reading, taking a nap, soaking in a bubble bath, listening to soothing music, keeping a minimal social schedule, or prioritizing friendships that are life-giving. When you prioritize these things, you feel more at peace and whole, less distracted by your own thoughts.
My dear friend, this is how you go to Nine in growth. When something makes you feel closer to God, doesn’t drain your tank, and helps you feel better, then you have stumbled upon a growth habit.
God is kind to us; as the psalmist says, He leads us beside still waters. God knows what you need to grow, and if you are one of His sheep, He will lead you there.
It may not be as fast as we desire, or as grand, but day by day, God will give you exactly what you need to grow.

About this Plan
The Enneagram is an ancient personality typology. The theory behind it is that a person assumes one of nine personalities in childhood as a reaction to discovering the world as a scary, unkind place, and thus is unlikely to accept their true self. This devotional is designed for Enneagram Sixes, also known as the Guardian.
