Let's Go Over to the Other Side

DAY 4 OF 5

In Luke chapter 8, though the storm was raging, Jesus had a purpose—to get to the other side and to restore the broken. The other side of the lake where the disciples were heading was not a Jewish region, and it was a place of brokenness. When Jesus said, “Let us go over to the other side,” he was proclaiming that he wanted to break the rules, set captives free, and bring the Gospel to all.  In the middle of the storm, Jesus’ purpose remained. 2020 has been a shocking year in many ways, but behind it all God has a purpose. If we could just get through the storm, we can bring the Gospel, hope, and salvation to the other side. Jesus had a purpose in getting to the other side, and he also had a promise. When he said, “Let us go over to the other side,” he gave his word. When Jesus says he is going to do something, he is going to do it, and we can take him at his word. This year may have been full of ups and downs, but the truth is that despite this change, God’s word and his nature hasn’t changed. Our faith remains because it comes from Jesus alone, and we can take him at his word.

Questions

What promises has God spoken to you recently?

What Word has he given you to share with others?

When the storms of life get overwhelming, consider who God has placed before you to reach with the promise of the Gospel.
