More Than Meets the Eye - 3 Day Christmas Devotional

DAY 1 OF 3

THERE'S MORE

Let's be honest — we're human, and at the core of who we are as humans, there seems to regularly be a desire and a longing for "more." By the world's standard, this could mean more money, more fame, more followers, more comfort, more success, you name it. We find, though, that an earthly view of "more" leads to an empty sense of satisfaction.

You know, when Jesus was born in an obscure village in Judea, the little town of Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph didn't have much, or so it seemed. No place to stay or sleep, not even a hospital or medical team to help with childbirth. What they did have was much more than what it could have looked like from the outside. In their hands, they were holding the greatest miracle in the history of the world wrapped up in swaddling clothes (Luke 2:7), looking right back up at them. No one was expecting grace when Jesus opened His eyes.

The night was holy — it was set apart. It was different because, on this night, there was an abundance of glory in the face of Jesus; even the angels couldn't help but say "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased" (Luke 2:14)! More praise. More honor. More glory to Jesus, the Savior of the world.

Yes, God wants you to have more, but the "more" that He wants you to experience is the fullness of Himself. Paul said it well in his prayer for the church at Ephesus for them to "be filled with all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:19). He wants you to know and feel more of who you already are, a child of light (1 Thessalonians 5:5). This Christmas season, let the "more" that you strive to have, be more authentic worship, more intentional relationship, and more real moments with Jesus himself.

About this Plan

More Than Meets the Eye - 3 Day Christmas Devotional

To most, Jesus was just a baby...but there was more than meets the eye when it came to this baby. Our Christmas song, "More Than Meets the Eye," walks people through the story of Jesus being born into our dark world. We want to invite you to worship Jesus for who He was and still is today by going through this devotional and listening to our song.
