Faith
Whenever someone mentions faith, there are a few people who come to mind, but of course, Abraham is always among those mentioned. If you’ve never read the story of Abraham, check it out after you finish today’s reading. The story of Abraham is both surreal and inspiring! The short version is God made many promises to Abraham, including blessing him and his wife with a son. Throughout the process, Abraham and his wife created their own solution by birthing a son through their servant. This story reminds me of the times we try to help God along by creating or doing things in our own power instead of waiting on God. Abraham and his wife Sarah, go on to birth a son, Isaac, even at a very old age. But to me, the biggest faith test came next when God asks Abraham for a sacrifice. Now, I won’t give the whole story away, but I will say God kept His word, as always.
More amazingly, Abraham’s story is only one of the many faith stories in the Bible. We haven’t begun to talk about Queen Esther, Moses, Joshua, Noah, Daniel, Joseph, King David, Mary, Samuel, and more than anyone, Jesus Christ. The great faith of our ancestors didn’t come because they had nothing else to believe in or had no choice. They had the same free-will we carry with us every day. What set them apart was that they believed God’s word was true. And trust me, I get it; that sounds like something you do when you get older. It may sound foreign, lame, or a little too much for you. But what if I told you that even at your age, on your level, right in this season of life, that you need faith too? You have an all-time advantage to start using faith principles now so that as you age, you will be undefeated. You have more power now than you can even imagine. King David, Joseph, and even Jesus Christ had an unwavering faith in God at the age of 12-18. These great men of faith started their journey with God at a young age. Their stories are among the greatest in the entire Bible, acquiring the most amazing blessings even through the most horrendous trials.
As you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, God will empower you to endure and walk in faith.
