Daily Bible Reading - July 2020 God's Life-Giving Word of PromiseChikamu
July 20
Introduction
Mordecai informs Esther of the king’s proclamation, and he entreats her to speak to the king. Esther indicates that to do so puts her life at risk
Scripture Reading
Esther 4:1-17
Today’s Key Verse: Esther 4:14b
[Mordecai said to Esther:] “Maybe it was for a time like this that you were made queen!”
Reflect
What did Mordecai ask Esther to do? What was Esther’s response? Why was it dangerous for Esther to approach the king without being summoned? What did Mordecai say to Esther to persuade her to speak to the king (verses 12-14)? Does his warning indicate the hand of God at work? Reread verses 15-16. What message does she send to Mordecai? What does Esther’s closing statement say to you about her character?
Pray
Almighty God, you promise to be with those who place their faith and trust in you. When I am confronted with difficult choices, empower me with your Holy Spirit, and guide me in the way of your truth. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those facing difficult choices.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Esther 5:1-14: Esther invites the king and Haman to a banquet.
