Day 1: Spiritual Gifts

Galatians 6:4 clearly states that there’s no room for comparing yourself to others. Jesus Christ modeled this all throughout his 33 years of existence on this Earth. Anytime you feel the need to compare to anyone else, take the time to read and be inspired by Jesus’s words and actions. We are all created with unique attributes and spiritual gifts from God. Learn them, own them, and be proud of the person God created you to be, without comparing yourself to anyone else.

Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world standing at 29,035 feet. There’s only a third of the air up there in the death zone; above 26,000 feet.  In fact, if you were to take your body from sea-level and place it on the summit, you would quickly pass out and die. So why climb it? It’s dumb right?

I get asked that question a lot – why do I climb? My answer is simple in that I’m wired a little differently than others. Just like God wired each and every one of us differently. Things that you do may seem crazy to others, but you are built to thrive in those environments. There are 7 billion people on Earth and 100 billion to have ever walked the earth. Only a few thousand have stood on top of Everest. Based on those numbers I’ll go out on a limb and say that most people won’t understand me. And that’s OK.

God created us unique for a reason. It’s important to understand and accept who we are and to walk out our purpose. We live in an over-connected world where everyone’s entitled to an opinion. We face spiritual warfare daily with people—brave behind a keyboard—attacking the person God created us to be. Don’t take the bait!

Jeremiah 29:11 says that we have a Creator who encourages us to live life to our fullest. To walk out our path with confidence, trusting His direction and guidance the entire way. He created us all differently with unique qualities that make us perfect in His image. This doesn’t mean we are exempt from pain, suffering, and hardship, but that we are capable of more than we can imagine under His glorious watch.
