Praying for People Around YouChikamu
Those Dealing with Divorce
Half of all marriages in America end in divorce. That’s a sad statistic, but a reality that we have to live with. What it means is that our communities are full of people dealing with the result of broken relationships. Families with children are being pulled apart all around us.
It’s for this reason that we pray.
Think of the divorced spouses and single parents in your community. What are the day-to-day needs that they need help with? What are the things that once were easy but now prove challenging? What would you want them to know about God and his love and grace?
If you’re not sure what exactly to pray, here’s a place to start...
Gracious Father, I pray for the men and women in our communities dealing with divorce. May your Holy Spirit comfort and strengthen them through this hard season. Give them your healing and hope. Work through these difficult circumstances to draw them close to you. Comfort and protect their children. I also pray for couples who are still married but are struggling and losing hope. Please restore their relationships. Reconcile them to one another. Surround them with godly people who will encourage them with words of grace and truth. Protect and strengthen my own marriage, God. Help me to love my spouse with the same unconditional love you show me. Amen.
