Singing Through the StormChikamu
"When It Rains, We Know What To Do"
We can all relate to singing and we are all familiar with storms. "Singing" is a choice. It is a very specific action we intentionally make, during life challenges, to keep on keeping on regardless of our emotions or circumstances. Storms will come and go all throughout our lives, but we have a continual choice to make throughout the years. Will we keep singing through the storms? If we wait for the storm to pass, some of us may never have an opportunity to sing. We must choose to sing while the storms are still going on - even when we do not feel like it.
When it "rains" in our lives, do we know what to do? Do we see the rain, get frustrated, think our day is wasted, and remain frustrated, depressed, angry and sad? Or do we see the rain as an opportunity to see how we will respond, create a memory, run to Jesus, and turn it into a positive? I do not always do this, but I would like to...and I hope you would like to try this as well. Even through the storm, I want to praise Him.
Other special people in history knew how to sing in the storm figuratively and literally. Paul and Silas, two devout believers, were thrown in prison after they were dragged through the marketplace, stripped, beaten, and severely flogged.
What makes a person want to sing through the storm? Is it easier for some than others? I believe it comes down to one thing...an intentional choice, regardless of the circumstances. I hope you will make a deliberate decision to try to sing throughout life challenges. You can do this by looking up certain verses in the Bible that will give you significant encouragement and hope. Perhaps a certain song will inspire you. The most important thing is that you start searching for a song or theme that will spur you on to hope and future joy in life.
