DAY 5 — EMBRACE YOUR CAUSE
Devotion
Have you ever witnessed an injustice and thought to yourself, Why doesn’t somebody do something? YOU are some body. When David arrived in the valley of Elah, he found a bunch of soldiers—including three of his own brothers and Saul, the king of Israel—sitting in fear of the giant, Goliath, and muttering, “Somebody should do something.”
If David hadn’t stepped forward to slay Goliath—if he hadn’t embraced his cause—it is likely that the Israelites would have lived in bondage under the Philistines. Nobody else was answering the call. Nobody else was doing anything. While they all sat on the sidelines, David got in the game. He responded in faith and did something.
The apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians that we are God’s masterpiece, “His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” The bottom line is that God has prepared all sorts of good works for you to do, and He wants to use you even more than you desire to be used. His plans are good plans, faith-building plans, Kingdom-establishing plans.
What’s your cause? What’s your dream? What’s your vision? What is God asking you to do? What are the yearnings of your heart? When David later became king of Israel, he wrote a psalm that says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Dream. Dream big. Dream so big that the only way you can ever pull it off is if God steps in. It’s difficult to comprehend that God wants to launch your dreams into motion even more than you want to.
Is it possible you’re all dressed for battle but sitting on the sidelines because of some giant standing before you? Or maybe you gave up on your dream a long time ago. Today is the day to pick it back up, dust it off, give it to God, and let Him set it into motion.
WHAT DREAM DO YOU WANT GOD TO RESURRECT?

In the Bible, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. 41 came and the rain stopped. The people of Israel wandered the wilderness for 40 years. 41 came and a new generation entered their Promised Land. For 40 days Goliath bullied Israel and taunted anyone to fight him. 41 came and David slew Goliath. This 7-day reading plan is a shot of encouragement to help you hold on and stand strong until your 41 comes.
