JOY

Today’s Prayer: “God, help our child to be filled with your joy in all circumstances. May they grow up with thankful and joyful hearts. Allow them to bring your joy in a world that needs you desperately.”

There are times in our lives when it’s difficult to find joy. But if we make it a habit of doing our best to see the joy in all things, our children are likely to follow. The Psalms are great place to turn in these moments. “Gladden the soul of your servant, or to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul." (Psalm 86:4)

Pray that your child would be glad down to the depths of their heart. Allow them to see and experience joy even in the midst of life’s painful experiences that we all must face.  When we look for joy in God, it is a childlike experience and an act of confidence in spite of what we may be up against.

When our children show joy in the midst of difficulty, it’s also healthy for their minds. They turn to God and find hope, rather than being stuck where they are. On top of that, children are filled with joy are a blessing to the home. They are God’s gift to remind us of new life, energy, and optimism for the good things God has in store for us. I can’t tell you how many stressful days I’ve had at work and when I get home, I am so thankful for the joy that children bring.
