Elijah Speaks for God
King Ahab had turned away from God and was not doing what God wanted. Elijah was a prophet, someone chosen by God to tell people what God wants to say to them. He had told Ahab what God wanted – but Ahab did not care.
King Ahab wanted all his people to worship a statue called Baal.
God sent Elijah to the people to say, “I will show you who is the true God. Let us make two piles of wood and put a sacrifice of meat on them. One will be for God and one for Baal. Let us put wood on the altars. Then we will pray for the wood to be set on fire. We will know that the God who answers is the true God.”
The people all thought this was a good idea.
Read today’s Bible verses.
Elijah was asking the people to make a choice to follow God.
What do you think they chose? What do you think King Ahab did?
Find out in the next part of “Ancora Kids on the Mountain.”
Pray: “Help me, Lord, to follow you and to choose the right things to do.”
