Clean This HouseSample
In today's Bible reading, we can see what belongs to the Lord. What we discover in Psalm 24:1 is that everything belongs to Him. God allows us to be a steward of things. He's gracious and kind. Amid Him being generous and kind, there are some things He has said that we can't have. We shouldn't touch, and we definitely shouldn't bring those things into our homes. Bringing those things into our homes and dishonoring the Lord leads us down the wrong path. God has set us up for victory. We pray from a place of absolute victory, but when we dishonor Him, we set ourselves up for failure and sabotage, just like we discover in the passages today. God wants us to have a clean house. Here are a few steps that we can take to start our journey to having a clean home. Let’s start together.
- Dedicate your house to the Lord. Psalm 24:1 reminds us that everything belongs to the Lord. We are just stewards. We should be in a posture where we gladly give back to Him everything He has given us. I don’t care if you live in a tent; dedicate it to the Lord. Even if you are renting, dedicate it back to the Lord. SPOILER: You don’t need a pastor to do this; there’s nothing wrong if you do. However, this is something YOU can do.
- Speak blessings over your home and invite the Holy Spirit in. Walk through each room and speak this. Make specific declarations. (Example: My house is a house of refuge. When people enter, they will feel the peace of Christ. The weary will find rest.)
- Anoint your doors and your windows. It’s symbolic, but the Bible says the anointing destroys the yoke and breaks the chains. Declare that the Blood of Jesus covers every entry and opening of your home and specifically ask God that all unclean spirits be removed. They have no legal right, remember? Your house belongs to the Lord.
