His Name Shall Be CalledSample
KING
If you were to visit a website for the most popular baby names today, nowhere on that list would you find the combination of names Isaiah declares in scripture for the person of Jesus. There is a good reason, it would be a mouthful to say, “Wonderful Counselor- Mighty God-Everlasting Father- Prince of Peace, dinner is ready!”
Not only would that be a challenging name to keep up with, but there is only One who can be all of these things for all people throughout history, and that is King Jesus.
He alone is the light of the world. He alone is Immanuel. He alone is infinitely wise, infinitely strong, and infinitely loving. He alone is our personal peace and the peace for all mankind.
Jesus is the one who was since the inception of the world, He is the one who is in our present age, and He is the one who is coming again to reign supreme over all as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He holds everything together, He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
He is God and there is no other, there is none beside Him and no other earthly kingdom can boast about the qualities of their kingdoms as God can. For His is a kingdom ruled by peace, justice, righteousness, and unspeakable joy. As a result, each moment spent in His presence, in His kingdom will be better than the last.
Every other empire has fallen or will fall, but the empire of Jesus never will. His kingdom will stand forever and nothing will ever be able to come against it or bring it to ruin. For His is an unshakeable kingdom built on the foundation of God Himself.
God promised David that He would establish his throne forever and by His glorious grace, all who trust in Christ as King are invited to become partakers in His eternal kingdom. Although King David was described as a man after God’s own heart, he was a flawed and imperfect king. This is not an accident, it was God’s design that all earthly kings would cause us to long for someone better. It would build holy anticipation for the triumphant day when King Jesus would be born to reign on the throne.
When Christ returns once again to rule forevermore, we will walk side by side with Him enjoying the full benefits of His kingdom. There will be no tears, mourning, pain or death. Those things will be a distant memory as we stand in His glory.
We long for this day to arrive. The final day when we are fully restored to His presence, as in the days of the Garden. God has never stopped pursuing us, He is zealous for His children to be where He is and desires that none would perish apart from Him.
Therefore, He sent His son Jesus as a baby and as a king. He would heal the sick, give sight to the blind, make the deaf to hear, release the prisoner from captivity, raise the dead, and reconcile all men to God the Father through his broken body and shed blood. He would hang on the cross bearing the full weight of our sin, and be buried in a tomb. Three days later He would rise to life, walk out of the grave, and deliver us from sin and death!
Jesus is our salvation. It cannot be found in anyone or anything else!
Jesus was born into the world to deliver you from darkness, to be with you always, to guide you in all wisdom, to rescue you in all power, to call you into his eternal family of love, and to give you peace with God.
He truly is the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
Prayer
Thank you, Jesus, that you are my King. I praise you for coming to restore all things, and reconcile us back to you. I submit to your benevolent leadership over my life. Come Jesus, this world desperately needs you. Amen.
