After bringing prophecies against Judah, Isaiah records his own dramatic call and commission by God with a vision of the LORD in His heavenly throne room. Under threat from both Israel and Syria, Isaiah encourages King Ahaz to stand firm and trust in God, promising the birth of a son as a confirming sign, symbolic of the future coming Messiah. Isaiah then begins a series of prophecies against the surrounding nations.
