Goodness of God

DAY 7 OF 7

If you only had 300 words...

I was asked to write about the goodness of God, using less than 300 words, for this Real Hope devotion page. What a challenge? So much could be said! He does everything for our good, and His glory. He breaks chains, He sets captives free, His love is relentless; it chases us unceasingly. He sustains, He redeems, He challenges and rebukes and refines in the fire. He gives reason to rejoice and sing and dance! He is like no other. He is above all things and all things were created in Him and through Him and for Him.

Yet, the most unbelieving and undeserved act of grace showcases the uninhibited goodness of God more than any other act. We see it so clearly in Jesus, the creator and sustainer of the whole known universe (and beyond) coming to us in human form, to suffer and be executed like a criminal, to restore all that He has created. God’s goodness and His loving kindness tore Himself apart as Jesus faced death on our behalf.

So, I couldn’t write it succinctly, but Luke sums it up perfectly in Luke 24:34. Without the resurrection, Jesus is just another sad martyr. God’s goodness was on full display on Resurrection Sunday.

So, as we thank God for His goodness now, let’s remember Paul’s letters to Timothy that remind us that we’ve been ‘entrusted’ with this good news of God. So, how is God calling you today to spread this goodness to others?
