A Song of Praise From His Creation
We have been taking cues from David’s Psalm 65 to write our song. We have been collecting thoughts on our notepads to answer the questions, "What has the Lord conquered for us?” and “What has He created forus?”
Let us see what the final part of our song will be, based on the last section of the psalm.
Do you remember Jesus’ triumphal entry to Jerusalem? The religious leaders told Jesus to hush the crowds. He replied that if they went silent, the stones would immediately cry out.
When you hear a stream running or the silent snowfall, do you hear creation praising God? Do you hear it in the wind, in the rain, in the magnificence of what God has made around us?
We, all of creation, sing our songs because we want to be with the Lord. We want Him to come back.
David mentions small hills. Zion is God’s chosen hill; it is a small hill. God is not up on the tallest mountain, where we cannot reach Him. He is close to His people.
He chooses to visit all the time. In times of drought, where desolate landscapes abound and lakes are dry, God brings rain. Once again, flowers begin to bloom, and things look different because God visited the earth.
Christ will come back to redeem us and all of creation. This is what the world is groaning for. All creation sings in anticipation of His return. When He comes again, He will put everything back as it should be. He is coming to restore hope, to reconcile, to deliver, to make new, to recreate.
In the Old Testament, people thanked God by telling others about His name. Some people desperately need to hear your song. As you write it, pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to someone who needs to hear your song—and let God do the work.
The Conqueror King, what has He conquered for you? The Creator King, what has He created for you? The Coming King, what does He mean to you?
Father, we are nothing without You. We thank You that in Your Son we have a Conqueror King, a Creator King, and a Coming King. We anticipate His return. Help us finish our song and guide us to those who need to hear it.
