DAY 3 OF 4

CHOOSE GOOD SEEDS TO YIELD GOOD FRUITS

It is remarkable how people have increasingly sought to improve their physical appearance as a justification for boosting self-esteem and even achieving better professional performance. Of course, there is nothing wrong with taking care of the body. That is even good. However, when the focus on finding happiness is merely on external factors, the heart becomes vulnerable to life's oscillation and fails to bear the fruits of joy, peace, and hope.

Unlike humanity, God cares much more about the inner being than outward appearance. "The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). This statement from God reveals that, no matter how hard someone may try to impress outwardly, only the heart discloses a person's true thoughts, desires, and beliefs.

Every day, numerous words and thoughts have been released as seeds into your heart. And when you firmly hold onto any word or thought, be it good or bad, you will cultivate that seed within your heart. Then in due time, it will bear fruit. Jesus said, “A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. A tree is identified by its fruit" (Luke 6:43-44). Jesus made it clear that the type of seed you cultivate in your heart will produce fruit, which will eventually be evident in how you think, speak, and act. Therefore, it is crucial to exercise discernment in choosing the kinds of seeds you should embrace.

The best way to choose your seeds is to expose every word and thought to the light of the Word of God. Only the truth of the Word is powerful enough to illuminate which seeds should be kept and which should be cast away.

As a child of God, you know that your new heart must be aligned with what is good. Therefore, you reject keeping any harmful seed. You cast away negative thoughts, words of accusation, offenses, and everything that is neither good nor true.

When you select the good seeds that you must keep in your heart according to God's Word, you will always yield good fruit, even amidst adversities.
