Depend On You

There is a moment in Mark 9:14-25 (NLT) where a desperate father brings his mute son to Jesus for healing. The father explains to Jesus that his son has been tormented by an unclean spirit ever since he was a little boy and goes on to say “Have mercy on us and help us, if you can…”Jesus responds and challenges the man by asking “What do you mean if I can?” Anything is possible if a person believes.”

I love how Jesus called out this man’s lack of faith but still graciously met him in his weakness and healed his son. This story reminds me that I don’t need to pray to God with an “if” but I can approach Him with certainty. I wonder how many times we come to God with hesitation instead of boldness. I think so often I play it safe with my prayers to God because I forget how trustworthy and dependable He is.

The lyrics to this song remind my soul that God can be trusted in every area of my life. It helps sustain my faith during the times when I wrestle with putting all my hope in Jesus. It is a declaration that I will not just trust God with most of my heart, but I will depend on Him wholeheartedly.

Every road I’ve ever walked leads back to You.

So many times I forget that God has a proven track record of being faithful in my life. There is something special that happens with my faith when I remember God’s character and the miracles He has done in my life.

PRAYER

Dear heavenly father, forgive me for all the times I have depended on my own strength and wisdom over Yours. Thank You for always being with me in every single season. May I never forget a single blessing that You have given me. I pray that You would fill me with boldness to dream big and ask for the impossible. Thank You for Your grace that empowers me to believe.
