Hearing God in the Noise

DAY 1 OF 5

Whose Voice am I Hearing?

“My own sheep will hear my voice and I know each one, and they will follow me.” John 10:27, TPT

Voices! Have you ever had a day when you’ve woken up to a chorus of voices in your mind? Me too. I remember one morning feeling like I was surrounded, ambushed even, by all these voices speaking at once and all I had done was open my eyes.

Now that was a day of recognising two key things!

God's voice wasn’t in all the noise and clammer that was surrounding me. Those voices were being intentional to cause anxiety, stress, overwhelm, worry, and energy drain.

God's voice and presence was in the flipped script of everything those voices were saying. It just needed to be interpreted, which looked like a pen and paper, and writing down everything I was hearing word for word then taking a closer look at all those thoughts to discover the truth.

For the longest time, I had sought to hear the Lord’s voice through scripture or the still small voice we hear about. It didn’t occur to me that the Lord would use noise as a way to communicate the very thing He was currently growing and developing within me.

When He started teaching me to flip the script and change the narrative, I started to become an expert at noticing my own thoughts and the impact they were having on my countenance, my language, my feelings and my beliefs. It was profound!

Many of us get caught up in wondering, “Is that God's voice?” and then get stuck trying to figure it out rather than moving into deeper dimensions of love and allowing His truth, frequency and sound to move through and transform us.

The Lord lets us see the limiting narratives and paradigms that we’ve been engaging in so that we can clearly recognise the truth and the way it is expanding, increasing, and ultimately transforming our thinking within us.

Activation:

It is a powerful tool to discern the noise that is overwhelming our thoughts. Once we identify them, we can then flip the script and rewrite the narrative. To help you in this process, answer these questions as you think about what you are thinking:

What am I hearing? What am I feeling? What spirit is behind that thought? What’s the opposite spirit? What’s the truth?

Here’s an example:

What am I hearing? “Did I hear God correctly?”

What am I feeling? “Anxiety”

What spirit is behind that thought? “Fear”

What’s the opposite spirit? “Trust”

What’s the truth? “I hear God’s voice. I am one of His sheep and I hear Him clearly. I’m growing and learning discernment.”

Now, keep in mind this is a practice thing. Practice being aware of God, aware of your thoughts and feelings, and aware of your countenance. Tune into the observer part of you and you will grow in your ability to recognise the noise and the truth that is hidden within it, as you allow the Holy Spirit to teach and show you.

Declaration:

I’m increasingly aware of God’s presence in my every day, when noise comes, I see it as an invitation to encounter truth instead.

Dan 2
