Renewing Your Mind in Leadership

DAY 2 OF 5

Jesus is Enough

"Every richness that is not Jesus will enslave you." - Tim Keller

We live in a time when nothing seems to be enough to satisfy or bring contentment. Recently, a professional woman shared with me how God had provided for her family as it expanded: first through marriage, then with their first child, followed by the second, third, and even the fourth child. Yet now, she desired to reach a new level of provision without having a fifth child. An intriguing idea, isn't it? As humans, we often crave more income, believing it will bring greater financial security or peace.

However, when income increases, spending tends to increase as well; our lifestyle grows alongside our earnings. E.F. Schumacher once said, "The cultivation and expansion of necessities... it is the antithesis of freedom. Any increase in needs tends to increase dependence on external forces of the individual over which we cannot exert control."

May God help us realize that His provision is rooted in His faithfulness and meets our current needs, not those of the past or future. Writing to the generous church in Philippi, the apostle Paul assured them, "And my God will provide for all your needs, according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:13).

How comforting it is to remember that having Jesus in our lives is paramount; He is sufficient, our peace, and our freedom.

For Reflection: I invite you to pray, "Jesus, you are enough for me and my family. Help me to live in a way that honors you, recognizes your sufficiency, and becomes a blessing to others always. Amen."
