Hands in the Bible

DAY 6 OF 9

Hands that Judge with Justice

Ehud is a fascinating figure in the Bible, demonstrating how God can use unique abilities and even apparent weaknesses to fulfill His purposes. Ehud, a left-handed judge, was called by God to deliver Israel from the oppressive king Eglon. His left-handedness, considered a disadvantage at the time, became a crucial element in his mission. Using his left hand, he deceived the king and performed an act of justice and liberation for the people of Israel.

This event teaches us that God can use our unique characteristics, special abilities, and even our weaknesses to accomplish His plans. What may seem like a disadvantage or peculiarity to us may be exactly what God needs to fulfill a specific purpose. Ehud trusted in God and used the skill he possessed, and as a result, he brought liberation to his people.

God calls us to be instruments of justice in our own lives. Like Ehud, we should be willing to use what we have, trusting that God will empower us to fulfill His purposes. Our hands can be used to promote justice, defend the oppressed, and act with integrity. By allowing God to use our skills, talents, and even our weaknesses, we can make a significant difference in the world around us.

Challenge:

Think of something unique about yourself that God can use for His glory. It could be a special skill, a talent, a characteristic, or even a life experience you have. Dedicate this ability or characteristic to Him, asking Him to use it to make a difference in someone's life. Write a plan or a prayer, offering this part of yourself for God's service.

Prayer:

Lord, use my abilities and even my weaknesses for Your purpose. May my hands be used to promote justice and liberation, according to Your will. Help me to trust that what I have, though it may seem insignificant, can be powerfully used by You to make a difference. Give me courage and discernment to act according to Your will, always seeking to promote Your Kingdom on earth. Amen.

In this devotional, we are reminded that God can use any aspect of our lives to promote justice and liberation. Ehud, with his left hand, became a powerful example of how unique characteristics can be instruments in God's hands. May we offer all our skills and characteristics to God, trusting that He can use everything for good and for His glory.
