God's Promises to You

DAY 6 OF 7

Jesus Will Return

“I will not leave you as orphans” (John 14:18)

He departed from us, yet we are not left alone. He is our source of comfort, and though He has left the earth, we are not without solace. Our reassurance lies in His promise to return to us, and this assurance is enough to sustain us through His prolonged absence. Jesus is already on His way; He declares, "I am coming quickly," hastening toward us. He affirms, "I will come," and nothing can delay His arrival, not even for a moment. He specifically promises, "I will come to you," and indeed He will. His return is intended particularly for His own people, offering them present comfort while they eagerly await the appearance of the Bridegroom.

When we lose the joyful awareness of His presence, we may grieve, but we need not despair as if all hope were lost. Our Lord, in His brief displeasure, may hide Himself from us, but He will return with full favor. Though He appears to leave us, it is only in a limited sense. Even in His absence, He leaves us with a pledge that He will come back. O Lord, return quickly! Without You, there is no life in this earthly existence. We long for the return of Your comforting presence. When will You come to us? We are certain You will appear, but may Your coming be swift, like a gazelle or a young deer. Delay not, O our God!

God's Promises to You

In Scripture, we find countless promises from God that bring hope, assurance, and guidance. They serve as anchors in challenging times, offering encouragement and strength. In this series, we explore these promises, seeing how they speak to our faith journey. From Genesis to Revelation, these assurances address our deepest needs. These devotionals were written by the great preacher C.H. Spurgeon, and updated to modern English.
