What to Pray for Your Children

DAY 16 OF 16

What to pray for your children

How to pray for your unsaved, prodigal, or wayward child (3)

10. In Jesus' name, take authority over all the lies and deceptions of the evil one. We are constantly tempted by the evil one, who incessantly tries to deceive us and destroy us in many ways. We have to resist the devil in Jesus’ Name.

11. Pray that your child will start to seek the truth and that they will get tired of sin.

12. Ask the Holy Spirit to convict them, and that they will ask the following questions:

·Who can I trust?

·What is the purpose of my life?

·When will I be free?

·Where will I go when I die – where will I spend eternity?

·Why do I hate God and run away from Him?

·How can I handle my problems?

·Where will I be safe? Who will protect me?

·Why am I skeptical and questioning His existence?

·Who will forgive my sins?

·Who will love me?

·Who will take away my emptiness and guilt feelings?

13. Persevere in prayer. Jesus Himself said in Luke 18:1-8 that we must persevere in prayer. There will be times when there will be tears. There will be times of travailing in prayer. Sometimes, you will want to worship and praise God. At other times, you will not have words – in those times, sit in His presence. Ask the Lord to teach you to pray from Scripture. God has given us the Holy Spirit as our Helper – to help and guide us as we pray (Romans 8:26-27).

14. Parents often have many “Why” questions. For some of them, God will answer, but for others, God will never answer. He is God. You have to trust Him with your child. God’s plans and ways are always better.

15. A last question: Why are you praying for your child to be saved? Why are you praying for prodigal and wayward children to come back? Is it the fact that their lives are dishonouring God? Or is it that it is humiliating you and making life difficult? It must be, in the first place, about God and the glory of His Name.

Dan 15
