DAY 15 OF 25

Have you ever been around someone who embarrasses you all the time? A parent who used to embarrass you in front of your friends, a sibling who never plays it cool, a friend who does things you’d never do in front of other people, a coach who calls you out on the field, a boss who points out your mistakes in front of your team. No matter who it is, the more you’re with them, the more anxious you probably feel that they’re going to do something to embarrass you time and time again. Maybe you learn to live with it, or maybe you start to distance yourself from them to avoid that feeling completely. Either way, the relationship changes as a result. The way you see that person changes.

Aren’t we lucky that God doesn’t do the same to us? That in the face of our sins, mistakes, and choices that we think might embarrass Him, He sees us differently. He makes us holy and includes us in His family. That makes us the kind of people He would never be ashamed or embarrassed to be with. We see this in the way Jesus reaches out to us in the middle of our mess. And we experience it in our relationship with Him every day. One of the things we can remember about our faith? That God is never ashamed to call us His own!

About this Plan

Rooted

Like a plant, our root system—our identity—is vitally important to our health. It’s how you see yourself in light of God, others, and the world. It’s what holds you when life changes, threatens, or causes you to question what’s true about you! We’ll look at how a healthy identity rooted in who God is will keep us strong, vibrant, and grounded no matter what comes our way.
