Surrender 101

DAY 5 OF 10

Turning to Joseph’s life in Genesis 37-50, we find him favored by his ailing father, dreaming dreams, enduring severe mistreatment by his brothers, sold into slavery, imprisonment, and a sudden rise to power. Never once do you hear him lament about his situation. He seems to take it all in calmly and without disappointment. But surely, there were times of wondering what God was doing in his life. After all, he had prophetic dreams about his eventual powerful position.

Although Joseph played a critical role in the survival and prosperity of the nation of Israel, he especially rescued his family during a severe famine through his leadership in Egypt. Through it all, Joseph exemplifies surrender through his unwavering trust in God's plan despite facing numerous hardships and betrayals. He surrenders his desires for revenge and instead forgives his brothers, seeing God's hand at work even in difficult circumstances.

Joseph's surrender is demonstrated through his faithfulness, resilience, and willingness to submit to God's timing and purposes throughout his life. From Joseph's surrender, we can learn the importance of trusting God's plan even in the face of adversity, betrayal, and uncertainty. His story teaches us the power of forgiveness, resilience, and patience as we navigate life's challenges. Joseph's actions exemplify faithfulness, humility, and the willingness to let go of control, ultimately showcasing the transformative impact of surrendering to God's will and timing in our lives.

Daniel demonstrated surrender through his unwavering faith and commitment to God, even in the face of adversity and persecution. Despite facing challenges such as being thrown into the lions' den for his faith, Daniel maintained his devotion to God, showing courage, trust, and a willingness to surrender his circumstances to God's will. His life exemplifies surrender through steadfast faith, integrity, and reliance on God's protection and provision in all situations.

From Daniel's surrender, we can learn the profound impact of unwavering faith and commitment to God amid trials and adversity.

The king was overjoyed and ordered Daniel to be lifted from the den. Not a scratch was found on him, for he had trusted in his God (Daniel 6:23).

His example teaches us the importance of maintaining integrity, trust, and reliance on God's protection and provision, even when facing daunting challenges or persecution. Daniel's surrender exemplifies resilience, courage, and a steadfast belief in God's faithfulness, inspiring us to trust God's sovereignty and guidance in all circumstances.
