Jesus Through Us: Following His Example in Love and ServiceSample
Each and Every One
What do you suppose is God’s favorite number? Some people might say His favorite number is seven because it symbolizes perfection. Others may say it is the number three because the Trinity is Three in One. But what about the number one?
In Luke 15, we find one lost sheep, one lost coin, and one lost son. Over and over, Jesus emphasizes that each individual, every single lost soul, matters to Him. He is always fighting for that one more. He is always searching out every single one of us. He is not satisfied until we are all with Him. He seeks after every soul that has strayed, and He celebrates when we return.
In a world that tends to determine success based on quantity, Jesus reminds us that we are not just part of a big group, a faceless number in the crowd. He is seeking out each of us individually. He wants every one of us to have our own individual relationship with Him.
What does the parable of the lost sheep say about the way Jesus associated with lost and broken people?
How valuable is one soul to Jesus? How has Jesus sought you out personally?
Dear Father, thank You for loving us and fighting for us as individuals. You seek us out personally and always fight for that one more. I am so thankful that You came looking for me and that You continue to call me when I’m lost. Thank You for Your healing and for the life You give. In Jesus’s name, amen.
