Growing in the Knowledge of God

DAY 2 OF 7

Unbroken Fellowship is Essential

“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” (John 15:7)

It's essential that we are connected to Christ to live for Him, and we must stay connected to Him to be able to claim the abundance of promises He offers. To abide in Jesus means never abandoning Him for another love or pursuit, but rather remaining in a dynamic, loving, conscious, and willing relationship with Him. Like a branch is always close to the stem and continuously receiving life and productivity from it, true believers abide in Christ in a basic sense, but there's a deeper level we must grasp to access unlimited power at His throne. “Ask whatever you wish” is for those like Enoch who walk closely with God, for those like John who recline in the Lord's presence, for those whose union with Christ results in continual communion.

Our hearts must remain rooted in love, our minds anchored in faith, our hopes firmly grounded in the Word, and our entire being united with the Lord; otherwise, it would be risky to entrust us with power in prayer. The blank check can only be given to someone whose life motto is, “It's no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” Oh, those who break their connection, how much power you lose! If you desire to be powerful in your petitions, the Lord Himself must dwell within you, and you within Him.
