The Jesus Mark Wants You to Know - 28 Days to Become More Intimate With JesusSample
Day 4 - Mark 1: 16-19
What Are You Fishing For?
“Come follow Me and I will show you how to fish for men.”
It almost seems like Jesus was deliberately testing these fishermen when He invited them to follow Him. From what we can tell those whom He first called were relatively content and successful in what they were doing before they encountered Jesus.
But something happened inside of them that caused them to drop everything and follow Jesus.
I was 25 years old when I said yes to Jesus’ invitation to follow Him. Through a series of God-arranged events, I ended up leaving my job and pursued what I believe Jesus was calling me to do. The idea of “fishing for men” was appealing because of the way the Great Fisherman had caught me.
The call of Jesus becomes irresistible because He is irresistible. His sacrificial love for you when He died on the cross so you could be free cannot be ignored, much less resisted. And when you experience that, you must tell others about it. You can’t help but want to become the fisher of men on behalf of your Savior and Lord Jesus!
