CounterculturalSample
Countercultural. This is what salvation is for us. By the world’s standards, what do our wrongs, sins, and mistakes deserve? Punishment. And not just any punishment, but a punishment so great, that the only wage that could be paid was death. A death that resulted ultimately in our eternal separation from God. Yet because of His love for us, God did something . . . well, countercultural! He sent Jesus to die for our sins. To take the punishment on our behalf. To save us from death. To make a way for us to spend eternity with God. This isn’t just any kind of love; this is countercultural love.
It’s the kind of love that shows us Jesus cares about every single one of us so much that He’d give His life to save us. There is no love as great (or as countercultural!) as that. Who in your life needs to know they are loved this much?

About this Plan
Jesus had a way of taking ideas that everyone understood and flipping them upside down to show His followers something new. We’re going to look at some of Jesus’ most countercultural ideas and dive into the way they turned preconceived notions and expectations on their heads, ultimately teaching us what it looks like to take Jesus’ lead and follow His countercultural example in our own lives today.
