DAY 4 OF 5

How to be Saved by Jesus

It is always a sensitive subject when someone speaks of a Christian who has failed, or “fallen from grace.” Even after the many years I’ve testified about it, the subject still has a tendency to make people cringe a little. Not many people seem willing to talk openly about it. Perhaps it’s because more people than care to admit it are trapped in a double life that includes hidden sin. Maybe they do not want to risk their sin being revealed.

The sad truth is many more people than we are aware of within the church need salvation just as much as those who do not go to church. Jesus would often preach more to the religious people of His time than to those who did not profess to know God.

Works will not get us saved and into heaven (Eph. 2:8–9); that happens only by allowing Jesus to be our sole Savior and Ruler, relying completely on Him to steer us clear of sin by His grace. This can only be done by maintaining a true relationship with God, based on loving Him with all our hearts, souls, strengths, and minds and loving our neighbors as ourselves (Luke 10:27).
