Daily Prayers for Men

DAY 5 OF 10

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. II TIMOTHY 3:16-17 NIV

No experienced camper would set out for a week long adventure at a remote site without ensuring he’s thoroughly equipped for the excursion. Things can go really wrong, really quickly, without the right preparation. The same goes for practically any other adventure, including skiing, fishing, rock climbing, and rafting. Similarly, God gave you His Word to equip you for the path He’s laid out for you. Everything you need to know about Him and His plan for your life is found in it. The Bible teaches you His truth. It calls you out when you fall short. It corrects you when your priorities get scrambled. It trains you to resist temptation and keep your eyes on the goal. God’s Word helps you fully appreciate the high points of your journey and endure the lows. It gives you the footing to take bold leaps of faith and the support to help you regain your balance when you stumble. Are you ready for your adventure?

Father, thank You for the adventure You’ve laid out before me. Thank You for Your Word, which prepares me for it and shows me how to avoid danger and distractions. Open my eyes to Your truth when I read it. Show me how I can apply it to my journey. Teach me Your ways. Call me out when I go astray. Correct me when I’m wrong. Train me to live in a righteous way. Equip me to carry out Your work.

Help me fully appreciate every leg of my journey. Amen.

Some days we're too busy. Some days we simply don't have the words. But the longer we put off our prayers, the more struggle and frustration we feel due to our distance from God.
