Lord, Teach Me My Assignment

DAY 2 OF 6

Lord, Who Are You? | Knowing My SENDER

“There was a man sent from GOD…” (John 1:6)

John the Baptist had one assignment in the earth: to introduce Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the long-awaited Messiah and King of Israel. But before He could fulfill his mission, He had to intimately know His Sender. After all, John was a man sent from God (John 1:6). If that is the case, His origin did not even begin with Elizabeth and Zacharias, his earthy mother and father. If John wanted to know the purpose for His life, He would have to consult His Creator.

Have you ever tried to have a serious repair done on your house? If so, the first thing the contractor did, if he or she was competent, was not to ask you how the house should be fixed. Rather, they asked, “Do you have a set of the plans?” The contractor consulted a detailed diagram, a plan for how the house was designed — it is called a blueprint. Genesis 1:26 declares that God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness….” In other words, God is the Blueprint of humanity. You were designed by Him and you were designed like Him. You must study The Blueprint — the Lord God Himself — to know who you truly are. Studying your Sender is the only way to learn your-SELF.

Let us pray…

LORD, help me grow in my knowledge of You.
You have revealed who you are through Your Written Word
And through Your Living Word, Your Son, Jesus Christ.
I will read Your Book, and through Your Spirit,
I will come to know Your Being.
Amen.
