21 Days: Revive Us Again

DAY 10 OF 21

DAY 10: THE POWER OF A SIMPLE FAITH CONFESSION

Reflection:

How powerful do we believe God’s Word to be? In the beginning, God spoke the earth into existence. In Ezekiel 37, as Ezekiel spoke God’s words, the valley of dead, dry bones came to life. In John 11, Jesus called Lazarus, and he rose from the dead. There were no magical actions or elaborate rituals involved - just a simple faith confession.

One might wonder how speaking words into the atmosphere can bring about change. The key is not in uttering random desires like, “I am going to become a millionaire,” nor is it in the meaningless repetition of positive words like, “success, success...”. The power lies in two crucial factors.

Firstly, it is not in our words but in God’s Word, which has authority even over what is dead. We need to align our confession with God’s Word by prophetically declaring God’s will and desire, speaking the truth of His Word that has the power to overcome what naturally seems impossible. A simple start could be daily declaring God’s promises in His Word over our lives.

Secondly, it is in the faith that we have as we declare, believing that God is fully able. Mark 11:23 says we can command mountains to move if we truly believe. Even in areas of our lives that seem impossible to change — be it a troubled marriage, a wayward child, or a persistent illness — we can expect breakthroughs when we confidently declare God’s Word over them in faith.

Response:

What are some promises of God that you can start declaring over yourself today? What about some dead areas in your life that you have identified? Search the scriptures and declare God’s Word over these areas.

Today, acknowledge the power in your faith confessions. Ask God for faith as you declare His promises and declare a revival over the dead areas of your life.

About this Plan

21 Days: Revive Us Again

Revival. We may have sung it. Prayed for it. Declared it. Most times, revivals are invisible, gradual, and start up quietly in the place that matters the most – in our hearts.
