QUESTION #4: DOES IT GLORIFY GOD?

The previous four days mean nothing if it’s all done for our glory, notoriety, or fame. Success and significance are empty if we fail to point back to God, acknowledging His grace, favor, and provision. An essential component of the process as our dream becomes a reality, is taking time to pause and confirm we are still proceeding with the right heart, glorifying the Father. If you have ever experienced success where your pride is inflated, you know that it can all come crumbling down very abruptly. When we outrun God to the winner’s circle so we can beat Him to the proverbial podium and pump our fist, we quickly realize the risk associated with our lack of humility. It’s a slippery slope if we lose sight of the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) and if we forget where the dream originated.

Thankfully, the Holy Spirit moves in us and quickens our convictions to maintain a humble heart. Our obedience to that guidance keeps us in the right standing and position for continued prosperity along this path. The Lord will not reveal a dream or vision that does not ultimately honor Him or His Kingdom. His sole desire is for His children to love Him and love their neighbor as themselves (Matthew 22:37-39). This process of a calling becoming a dream that becomes a purposeful mission is not designed to be a journey for the Lone Ranger. We are not designed to be isolated or to be deployed alone. God is glorified when we include like-minded believers, and we seek Godly counsel throughout this season. Joshua needed Caleb to treasure the promised land. David needed Jonathan’s friendship and accountability. The disciples needed to embark on their ministry of evangelism two by two. Paul had Timothy.

It’s not a coincidence that the success of a ministry requires others with a heart to serve. It should surprise nobody that the road to dream fruition is often littered with potholes, diversions, and detours. God never promises smooth sailing or a mission without a mess. We can be grateful, glorifying the Father through adversity, not just through accomplishment. God deserves our praise in trial as much as he does in triumph. He is faithful to show up on our behalf when we least expect it and when the outcome seems dark and hopeless. We live our most effective witness when God’s strength is magnified through our weakness. There is power in our testimony when our dream requires wisdom and strength beyond our own. We are living proof of God’s goodness and miraculous grace when we pursue a seemingly impossible mission.
